Pastor Jacob Murphree serves as the pastor of Gray’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. With a heart for preaching God’s Word and equipping the church for generational impact, Pastor Jacob’s ministry is rooted in Scripture and guided by the vision of seeing lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Before entering pastoral ministry, Pastor Jacob served ten years in the United States Navy, an experience that shaped his discipline, resilience, and heart for service. These lessons continue to influence his leadership style today as he shepherds the church.
His preaching style is expository and practical, often drawing from real-life stories, Southern culture, and his own personal experiences to connect the truth of God’s Word with everyday life.
Pastor Jacob is committed to both the present and future health of the church. Through initiatives like AWANA for children and teens, community outreach events, and teaching series that focus on growth and discipleship, his desire is to “live the gospel and leave a legacy” that will continue for generations to come.
Jacob is the husband to Sam Murphree and together, they have two children. When he’s not preaching or serving, Pastor Jacob enjoys music, coffee, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He has a deep love for his community and is passionate about finding creative ways for the church to meet both the spiritual and practical needs of the people around them.
Above all, Pastor Jacob seeks to glorify God, proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, and help believers grow deeper in their walk with the Lord.
